Key Differences Between a Snooker Table and a Pool Table

Pool Tables in Phoenix, AZ

Games are an excellent way for people to have fun and relax. But when it comes to playing billiards, the two most popular games are snooker and pool. They may look similar, but they are different games with distinct rules. Here are the differences between a snooker table and a pool table:

Size

Snooker tables are typically 12 feet by 6 feet, whereas pool tables are generally 7 feet by 4 feet. The difference in size is due to the snooker table requiring more room for its set-up, with a 6-inch pocket at each of the four corners and six pockets spread around the table. Also, the snooker table has thicker cushioning than a pool table, which helps to provide greater rebound and accuracy when shooting.

Balls

Both snooker and pool tables use balls of different sizes. However, they are not interchangeable. Pool tables use sixteen balls in total, with seven being solid colors (yellow, blue, red, purple, orange, green, and black) and the other nine being striped. The snooker table, on the other hand, uses twenty-two balls in total, with fifteen of the balls being solid colors (yellow, brown, green, blue, pink, and black) and the other seven being striped.

Accessories

The accessories needed to play snooker and pool are also different. A snooker table will require a set of cues, rests, a triangle, and a scorer. A pool table requires two cues, a chalk set, and racks for the 8-ball and 9-ball games. Sometimes, pool tables may also need a bridge stick for shots too far away to reach with the cue.

Snooker and pool tables may look similar, but they are different games with unique rules and regulations.
